Queen of SwordsA stern queen looks out from her throne upon a high place. One hand holds a Sword which she rests on the arm of her throne. The throne itself and her crown are decorated with butterflies and an angel, symbols of the element of Air. With her other hand she beckons as if to one of her subjects. This card focuses on research and investigation, science (electronics perhaps), training, instruction, change, and deep thinking. There is also a reminder here that sometimes the earthly must be sacrificed for the benefit of the spiritual. As with all Court cards, it is also possible for a Queen to represent a person. The astrological sign for the Queen of Swords is Virgo. This is a woman who is analytical, perceptive, and confident in her actions; perhaps a woman who has experienced great sorrow, but is capable of bearing it. Other adjectives to describe this person might be: perfectionist, cold, objective, scientific, independent, and discriminating. This Queen may represent the vocations of: secretary, editor, computer programmer, scientist, researcher, analyst, or astrologer. Return to: Tarot Card Meanings |
